I could have just spent the whole vacation on this beautiful mountainside, which also has a trail going up the mountain from the back of the property. Then we would have coffee on the porch, and watched elk and fed chipmunks who will come and sit on your lap and eat peanuts right out of your hands. I made coffee and breakfast every morning in our kitchen where I could watch the chipmunks play through the window. Both cabins were immaculate and although they aim for a "rustic" feel with the log beds and interior accents, they were not lacking in any modern comfort. As soon as we drove up to the property (the drive itself on the mountain roads leading up to Pine Haven was beautiful) I was captured by the unique charm of this place, consisting of a main building and about 12 or 13 private cabins, each with its own "theme." We stayed in #5 (Honeymoon) for four nights and then switched to #4 (Solitude) for the remaining two nights of our trip. Our first time to Colorado could not have been better, thanks to our stay at Pine Haven and our lovely hosts who made us feel like old friends. Overall it met all our expectations and hope to have a family vacation where the kids could roam free for a bit and we could spend a lot of time outdoors in lovely environment. A couple of times per season they fill the river with large trout for the guests to fish. For instance they organized a party with games (and prices), drinks, ice cream and rounded it off with a bond fire and marshmallows. The owner George and his family are really making efforts to make you feel at home and welcome. It's close both to Estes Park (great for an evening stroll with ice cream or taffy) and the RMNP entrance. A hiking trail that goes directly off the resort up to the Oldman Mountain, it's a beautiful hike. There are plenty of sitting areas, where you can have bbq and hang out with the other guests in case you make friends or travel in group. We even swam in it after first heating up in the hot tub. The river that goes through offers fishing and gold panning. Our kids loved the small playground where they sometimes put up a bouncy house. The resort itself is perfectly located and if you take the time to explore it has tons of things to offer. The private grill area is great, we used it pretty much for every meal. The cabin is well equipped and has a well functional kitchen. We stayed in one of their smaller cabins, it's comfortable for 4 with one king size be and fold out sofa. We found everything we wanted and more at Pine Haven. We a family of 5 and were looking for a place were the kids could run free, play and make friends and be close to nature while we had good comfort.
